The Focus School Choice Module allows districts to comply with state mandated requirements regarding Controlled Open Enrollment, School Choice, and Magnet needs for public schools, and facilitates the lottery selection process through which students are considered for programs outside of their zoned school.
Focus provides an online application for students/parents to select and rank their top 3 choices. The application is pre-populated with student information from the Focus SIS, includes the ability to upload required documents, and a section to list any school tours or auditions the student has completed.
Once School Choice Applications have been submitted, districts can run the lottery to randomly assign students to their Choice Programs based on the applicant’s priority ranking. Focus has two lotteries: The Standard Lottery and the Specialized Lottery.
Once the Lottery has been run, Choice Letters can be generated and mailed or emailed to students notifying them of their status, whether that is accepted, pending, waitlist, or declined. These letters/emails are fully customizable to include all additional instructions and relevant information.
