Focus School Software is looking to expand our team by hiring a System Administrator.
Professional experience with RHEL, CentOS or another similar Linux operating system
Comfortable supporting complete PHP web stacks (Linux, Apache, Nginx, PHP-FPM, PostgreSQL, or any combination of the above)
Able to troubleshoot hardware issues in remote hosting environment: different RAID levels, iSCSI, memory error, IP/KVM
Excellent knowledge of HTTP, DNS, SSL, SSH and BASH
Workable knowledge of SQL/database management (backup, restore, disaster recovery)
Know well at least one scripting language: BASH, Perl, Python, Ruby or PHP, etc.
Nice to have: experience with cPanel, Puppet, Subversion, Isyncd, Gluster, nginx, FreelPA, PHP-FPM, monitoring systems including Nagios and/or Icinga (v1 or v2)
High traffic web environment, load-balancing and fail-over experience is a huge plus
Job Duties include:
Administration of Linux servers and PostgreSQL databases
Investigate and fix performance/stability issues
Manage and improve backup system, compile and test disaster recovery scenarios
Write scripts and code to automate various systems maintenance tasks
Manage and expand configuration management system (Puppet)
Support various software like DNS, email, CRM, Subversion, authentication, monitoring system, …
Research new technologies to optimize server farm management and software development process
Customer support on systems and network related issues
The Server Admin Team oversees the servers running systems used daily by millions of users. Our company maintains about 100 production sites. The majority are hosted by us, but we must also support customer-hosted applications. The main focus of the team is to provide responsive sites 24/7.
Our 3 sys admins use a variety of tools: Nagios, NGINX, KVM, Puppet, PHP-FPM, Postgres, etc. The team works out of the downtown St. Pete office together, but share an extra half-day off per week to accommodate a rolling on-call schedule in case of emergency. The team interacts with other teams: Management, Engineering, Support when new environments are needed or if there are problems accessing backups, etc. The team interacts occasionally with customers recommending appropriate levels of hardware and setup.
